In Canada, 40% of GHG emmissions are generated by buildings. Most of these emmssions are due to the combustion of natural gas for space heating, as well as for domestic hot water and manufacturing process heat.
New technologies can more efficiently combust these hydrocarbon fuels in order to reduce CO2 and other emmissions.
Just as importantly, upgrading the building envelope of a structure in order to reduce heat loss, and the need for additional heating can help reduce emmisions. Key strategies include upgrading wall and roof insulation, increaing the insulating propoerties of windows, recycling heat through destratification fans and entrance door air curtains.
